I was in a fanart mood so I did good ol' Matthew Patel from the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel together with his demon hipster chicks and mystical powers.
Never really done fire in a picture before... and I realized that while working on this. I really need to start doing stuff I haven't done before. Gotta step out of the comfort zone D:

Weeei got this picture done at last. It was just an attempt to do a sort of portrait of myself at first and then I kept going and turned in to a new DeviantART ID. And no, my bangs doesn't really look that odd but I took some creative liberties to touch it up and make it look more "artsy" so to speak.

And here we just have a little lighting practice we got to do in concept art class. It's about bouncing light, high lights, reflections, different kinds of shadows and useful stuff like that. Love this class <3

Character Design/Turn-around

A little concept work for a school assignment we got. I wasn't too happy with the character but it somewhat fits the concept I choose and it's pretty simple. Which I like.

So the basic idea I got for this game(it wont be made in to a real game, we just invent a game that we can create concept art for) is that this character will be a messenger on the world tree, Yggdrasil, from the Norse mythology. The messenger is called Ratatosk in the myth so I guess I'll be calling my character that as well. She'll be delivering a message from the top of the tree, where a hawk is sitting ontop of an eagle's head, down to the underworld where the dragon, Nidhögg is chewing on the roots of Yggdrasil. So on her way down there she'll have to go through Asgard and middle earth while avoiding getting caught or killed by the creatures and Vikings that lives there.
That's about as far as I've gotten.

There we go, a shitty cellphone speaker. But it feels good that I'm getting back in to doing these studies at last.
I've also been working on these character thumbnails for a school assignment. We're making up a non existing concept for a game and then we do some concept art of it. Fun. As. Hell <3

You'll see more of this stuff as the course progresses.

Changed the layout because I wanted something more simple. I gotta change the boring banner in to something more colourful or interesting though.

Anyways, here's a quick little scenery drawing I did. Next I'll try doing some photo study of an object or something. It's been a while so I wanna do it again c:

Horned Slowbear

Getting back in to drawing...again! I try to work on my colouring and stuff but I still make them too flat... and I think I'm still subconsciously afraid of using higher contrast in colours for some reason god dammit. Got any tips, please, share them with me.

Also, this month feels like a fresh start for me in a number of aspects so I'm going to make something positive out of it and put my energy on getting better at art. So I'm stealing my friends little idea of writing a list of things to do.
So here we go

• One hour of sketching (Including both anatomy and random stuff I got in my head. Both good and bad)
• Get back in to the habit of doing at least one photo study/master study a day
• Focus on working on volume and values every week
  
• Focus on working on lighting every week

That will do for now but I might add more to the list as I go on.
