Gear Head

Just a quick little concept sketch of a girl I'm going to use for a few concept art thingies. I posted a few earlier sketches of her in a previous post. This might not be the final design so if you got any suggestions, just shoot them this way and I'll see if I like them.

And now I want to end with another, rather long, Stephen Fry quote. I know it must be annoying for you to see me go on and on about his quotes but many of them really are worth listening to (of course he's not the only one that gives great advice and asks great questions). And this one is one of those worth thinking about. And if you think that I'm pointing this quote towards you personally, don't. Because it's pointed towards anyone who believe they got this issue.
But first, a little side note..I find it funny how I fool myself in to thinking that more than 4 people actually read this blog while i write these posts lmao.

"Certainly the most destructive vice, if you like, that a person can have – more than pride, which is supposedly the number one of the cardinal sins – is self-pity.
I think self-pity is the worst possible emotion anyone can have. And the most destructive.
It is, to slightly paraphrase what Wilde said about hatred (and I think that hatred is a subset of self-pity, not the other way around) it destroys everything around it except itself.
Self-pity will destroy relationships; it will destroy anything that’s good, it will fulfil all the prophecies it makes and leave only itself.

It is so simple to imagine that one is hard done by and that things are unfair and that one is under-appreciated and that if only one had a chance at this or if only one had a chance at that things would have gone better: you would be happier if only this.. that one is unlucky. All those things. And some of them may well even be true.
But to pity oneself as a result of them, is to do oneself an enormous disservice."

Happy Holidays

CHRISTMAS GIFT for my pal Marlene. I owed her a purple unicorn so here we go... a purple unicorn. The background is shit as hell but it will do. I couldn't think of anything better sadly.
But I did have a lot of fun doing this and I actually felt like I wanted to put the extra effort in to the unicorn. Partially because I enjoyed it and partially because I thought that you deserved it so much. You actually deserve a lot better but this is what I can give you for now. You're one of those who helped me through these past two months or so and for that I thank you. Because I'm truly, truly thankful for it all.
Happy holidays to everyone and have a happy 2011.

A hard climb

I needed something to work on and possibly create some art for a future portfolio or something so good ol' Conny gave me the suggestion to make up a world and fill it with characters and possibly some kind of storyline to it. So I did. Well.. I started on it. I started doing sketches for a character and then I plan to add everything in around her. It's mostly to make myself do concept art and illustrations rather than making an actual story. So here are just some of the sketches I did:

And this one is just a little gift art for Conny's girl, Bella, that she requested. A cute troll c:

And to end this post, here's a long but great quote from Stephen Fry:

"Yes, I can tell you where the golden palace is. And I can tell you how to get there.
It's a very long, hard climb though. And you will blister your knees and you will hurt yourself and you will fall down and have to start climbing again.
And they say "In that case I don't want to. You're so lucky to get there".
I'm not saying I got to the golden palace but what I'm saying is what attributes I have are ones I've worked up and run towards with enthusiasm. And people now seems to think, not only that it's unfair, but that it's their right to be given it without making the same journey."

Usus magister est optimus

Woop woop a master study. Got a bit inspired after watching Conny's livestream and then Dave Rapoza's stream. Got out of bed in the middle of the night to start on it and then I finished it this afternoon <:

Mystiska Krafter

The Scott Pilgrim series and Matthew Patell © Bryan Lee O'Malley

I was in a fanart mood so I did good ol' Matthew Patel from the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel together with his demon hipster chicks and mystical powers.
Never really done fire in a picture before... and I realized that while working on this. I really need to start doing stuff I haven't done before. Gotta step out of the comfort zone D:

Husshhh

Weeei got this picture done at last. It was just an attempt to do a sort of portrait of myself at first and then I kept going and turned in to a new DeviantART ID. And no, my bangs doesn't really look that odd but I took some creative liberties to touch it up and make it look more "artsy" so to speak.

And here we just have a little lighting practice we got to do in concept art class. It's about bouncing light, high lights, reflections, different kinds of shadows and useful stuff like that. Love this class <3

Character Design/Turn-around

A little concept work for a school assignment we got. I wasn't too happy with the character but it somewhat fits the concept I choose and it's pretty simple. Which I like.

So the basic idea I got for this game(it wont be made in to a real game, we just invent a game that we can create concept art for) is that this character will be a messenger on the world tree, Yggdrasil, from the Norse mythology. The messenger is called Ratatosk in the myth so I guess I'll be calling my character that as well. She'll be delivering a message from the top of the tree, where a hawk is sitting ontop of an eagle's head, down to the underworld where the dragon, Nidhögg is chewing on the roots of Yggdrasil. So on her way down there she'll have to go through Asgard and middle earth while avoiding getting caught or killed by the creatures and Vikings that lives there.
That's about as far as I've gotten.
